Welcome to the first Polka Dot Races Loop Til You Drop Back Yard Ultra. Sponsored by The Northampton Grocer
Where endurance meets strategy, and the last one standing wins! This unique ultramarathon format challenges runners to complete a 4.167-mile (6.7 km) loop every hour, on the hour
Runners must start each loop precisely on the hour.
If you fail to complete the loop within the hour or do not start the next one, you’re out! The race continues until a single runner completes one final loop alone, crowning them the Last Person Standing. A backyard ultra doesn’t have a finish time, as such 24 hour events cannot be classed as a backyard ultra.
We are the first to offer the option of a paired backyard run, where one of you runs a loop whilst the other recovers before starting the next loop. Only one person can be on the course at one time and must alternate the loops. The course is all off road and trail within the beautiful grounds of Turvey House.

The current UK record for Backyard Ultra is 88 hours, set by Lukasz Wróbel at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra in 2024. This record was achieved after Wróbel ran 88 laps of the 4.167-mile course. He then went on to set the current world record 116 laps (483 miles or 777 km) at the Legends Backyard Belgium 2025.
